The family of the late Padraig would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us and continue to support us at this difficult time.
We are deeply grateful to all the young people who helped Padraig at the scene of the accident, you were there for him in very difficult circumstances. Thank you to the paramedics and fire service who attended to Padraig and a special thanks to the staff of the Royal Victoria Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Padraig and to ourselves, you were truly inspirational.
We offer thanks to Shane McCullagh and each and every member of our very special Loch Mhic Ruairi Naomh Treasa GAA. You have carried us through our darkest days, from the removal of Padraig’s remains home on St. Stephen’s Day to our beloved Loch Mhic Ruairi where he collected his jersey for the last time, to everything you did during the wake, for the reverence you all showed at Paudi’s funeral and at his burial, thank you we are eternally grateful.
Thank you to Eire Og’s for stewarding at Padraig’s Funeral it was so thoughtful of you. Thank you to all those who formed guards of Honour at the funeral, St. Teresa’s PS, which held a special place in Paudi’s heart, to the Dean Maguirc College, where he spent so many great days and made so many friends both staff and pupils, to Hughes Shop, to O’Kane’s Shop, to the Tyrone Minor’s, Loch Mhic Ruairi Naomh Treasa GAA, and of course to Gina, Noel and the staff at Gina’s Bar, where he enjoyed many a night’s craic. To everyone involved in organising and supplying the tractors for the guard of honour at our home, you did him proud.
To our family, friends and neighbours who took care of the refreshments during the wake and who continue to supply us with dinners. Thanks to all the local shops and takeaways who supplied food in abundance. To the drivers, owners and organisers of the buses who contributed so much to the smooth running of the wake and made it so accessible for those attending. To everyone who attended Padraig’s wake and queued in the cold to speak to us, your patience and understanding meant the world to us. To those who sent flowers, left messages and sent Mass cards and sympathy cards, we appreciate your thoughtfulness in taking the time to do so.
To everyone who looked after the farm in Drumduff and attended to the animals when we couldn’t. To Colm Kelly for everything he has done for us.
To Pearse, Hanna, Shan and Daithi’s friends and their schools, you have been a tower of strength to them and have supported them so much in these early days.
To all Padraig’s friends who have supported us with their many stories, photos and videos of Padraig and his antics, to Ellie, Conor and Justin, the Begley Family and all his friends in Rockstown, he loved Rockstown and you all, it was his second home. To Paul Ward and all at Ward Plant Hire, he enjoyed the craic with you all, he didn’t see his time with you as work.
Thanks to John Donaghy funeral Directors and all his team, for the professional manner in which you took care of Padraig and ourselves when we were at our weakest. Thanks to Mary Conway our sacristan for her assistance and continued support.
We thank Fr. Peter McAnenly for his constant support of us and for saying Padraig’s very special requiem mass and for remembering Padraig so fondly. We thank Fr. Sean O’Neill, Fr. Sean McCartan, Fr. Moore and Fr. Gerard McAleer for their attendances and spiritual help, may they continue to support us in the times ahead. To Caoimhe, Catriona, Eamon and our beautiful Church Choir for the uplifting music, you carried us through the funeral and to Aoife who added her own special touch, we thank you all. To those who took part in the Liturgy, to the altar servers and Eucharistic ministers thank you. To Catriona and the staff at St Teresa’s for allowing us to use the school during the funeral. To the Old Charm Inn, Carrickmore for the refreshments after the funeral.
Finally, to our immediate Conway and McDonald family, you have been our rock and a constant support, also to the extended McDonald, Conway, Ward and Kelly families, thank you for all you have done for us in these first weeks.
This acknowledgement is only a token of the thoughts and feelings we have at this time. Your presence, your messages and your gestures have brought comfort to us all and we will never forget the truly special show of support that we have been given.
We can’t mention everyone individually, but may God grant you all a special grace for the care and kindness you have shown to us.
