Eileen CASSIDY (née McGeary)

Date of Death: Sunday 7th June 2026 Town: Galbally

Months Mind Acknowledgement

Died 7th June 2026

We, the family of the late Eileen Cassidy thank most sincerely extended relations, friends and neighbours who sympathised, prayed for and supported us during our recent sad bereavement.

Words cannot fully express our gratitude for the kindness, compassion and empathy shown to us during Eileen’s illness and subsequent death.

We thank the doctors and nurses from Ardmore Medical Practice, Medicare Pharmacy, District Nurses, Staff from Craigavon Area Hospital and sitters from Southern Trust Homecare for the exemplary way in which they all looked after Eileen and offered much needed support to her immediate family.

We extend huge appreciation to Eileen’s carers from the Southern Trust who were a big part of her daily life and couldn’t have done more for her in her final days to keep her comfortable and offer solace in our distress. We will also be eternally grateful for the Marie Curie night sitters who provided such necessary assistance and consolation at a difficult time. We owe you all so much and are thankful for the careful attention you gave to a much loved wife, mother, sister and grandmother.

We appreciate the goodness of all who came to the wake, attended the funeral and those who sent Mass Cards, messages of sympathy and floral tributes.

Thanks to Mr Hugh Meenagh, Principal of St. Joseph’s Primary School, the staff and children for their touching tribute to Eileen.

We thank our good neighbours who helped with catering at the wake and those who supplied food; those who attended to car parking and those who prepared Eileen’s grave in very inclement weather.

We thank Galbally Community Centre for the use of their equipment and premises and Quinn’s Corner for the food and help they provided.

Special thanks to Kate McAleer for her advice and guidance and for the professional and sympathetic manner in which she carried out her duties. She could not have done more!

We are grateful, too, to Father Barney. His presence and his prayers helped soften the sadness we felt in bringing Eileen home to Glenburrisk for the final time.

Our thanks to Sinéad Willox and Rory Madden for the beautiful and fitting singing and music at the Requiem Mass. We have no doubt that Eileen would have approved wholeheartedly!

We thank Father Slater for celebrating Eileen’s Mass and for his words of comfort and consolation. Thanks, too, to Father McGuckin and to Father Gerard McAleer for being with us and for their sympathy and prayers.

For the pastoral care he provided for Eileen, since she became housebound, we thank most earnestly Father Breslan. May God reward him for his dedication.

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually we trust this acknowledgement will be accepted as a heartfelt and sincere expression of gratitude and appreciation. Mass will be offered for all of your intentions.

Eileen’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Friday 17th July at 7pm in Galbally Chapel.
