Brendan HURSON

Date of Death: Monday 17th August 2026 Town: Cappagh

We the family of the late Brendan Hurson, wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the community of Galbally and beyond, and everyone who sympathised and supported us during our recent bereavement.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who sent heartfelt messages, cards, flowers, offered condolences and prayers, and who attended his wake and Requiem Mass.

A special word of thanks to our neighbours, friends, family and local businesses for helping to provide food and refreshments, and to everyone who provided lighting, transport, drove buses, parked cars, stewarded at Páirc an Phiarsaigh, Galbally Community Centre and at our home, ensuring that everyone was able to travel to and from the wake safely. A special thank you to Kevin & Ciaran Mc Elvogue who provided the marquees, and to all who prepared daddy’s grave. Your kindness, care and generosity are greatly appreciated by us all.

A special thanks to our local clergy, Fr Breslin, Fr Mc Guckin, Fr Mc Aleer and Fr Mc Callion for their spiritual support, and to Fr Slater PP, for the comforting Requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the sacristan, altar servers, eucharistic ministers and to all those who took part in any way, and especially to Angela Morgan and the Morgan/ McDonnell families for the reverent and beautiful music, which added so much to the mass.

Our thanks also to Piarsaigh an Ghallbhaile and the staff and pupils from Dean Maguirc College, Carrickmore for the guard of honour at the funeral, and to Galbally Community Centre and Farley’s, Beragh for the use of facilities and refreshments after the funeral.

We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the South Tyrone District nurses, the Community Respiratory and Palliative Physio teams, and the doctors and staff of Carrickmore Health Centre who compassionately tended to daddy during his illness, enabling him to be cared for at home.

The family also wish to thank McAleer Funeral Directors for their dignified and respectful support during the wake and funeral. A special word of thanks to Kate whose professionalism, kindness and thoughtfulness eased our burden.

A special word of thanks to daddy’s friends and neighbours who took time to visit him regularly and offer him support over the years.

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, we hope that this acknowledgement will be accepted as a sincere expression of our family’s heartfelt gratitude and appreciation.

Brendan’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Friday 18th September at 7.00pm in The Church of Saint John the Baptist, Galbally.
