It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Bridget (Bridie) Gillespie née Downey, peacefully at Edenballymore Lodge Care Home on 28th September 2026.

Late of 11 Glengalliagh Park. May she rest in peace.

Beloved wife of the late Bobby. Devoted mother of Stephen, Fiona, Robert, Charles, Audrey, Bridgeen and the late Sinead. Dearest mother-in-law of Tracey, Paul, Ginette, Agnieszka, Chris, Gary and Ian. A much loved Granny to all of her loving grandchildren. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of her wider family circle, friends and neighbours.

Bridie will be reposing at her late home, 11 Glengalliagh Park from 1pm tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday 29th September. Funeral leaving from there on Thursday 1st October at 9.20am for 10am Requiem Mass in St. Brigid’s Church, Carnhill . Burial will take place afterwards in the City Cemetery. Wake house will be private from 10pm in the evening until 12 noon.
