Gerald (Gerry) McLAUGHLIN

Date of Death: Friday 27th August 2021 Town: Maghera
Date of Death: Friday 27th August 2021

The family of the late Gerry McLaughlin (R.I.P) wish to express their sincere gratitude to family, extended family, friends and neighbours who sympathised with them and offered support following the sad loss of a much-loved father, grandfather, partner, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend and neighbour. Thank you to everyone who sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, messages, phone calls, letters of condolence, floral tributes, gifts or helped in any way. Thank you to all those who called at the house or paid tribute on social media. Thank you to the many relatives, neighbours, friends and wider community who came to pay their respects, attended the Requiem Mass or joined us via the church webcam.

Thank you to Fr. Paddy Doherty for his pastoral care and visits and for celebrating the funeral mass, and Hannah Ferguson for the beautiful music and singing which added so much to the requiem mass. Sincere thanks to the church sacristan and those who prepared the church, and to all who participated in the funeral liturgy. Thank you to the gravediggers, who prepared Gerry’s resting place.

A special thanks to everyone who cared for Gerry during his illness, especially the District nurses and Marie Curie nursing teams, the doctors, nurses and staff at Maghera Medical Centre and Antrim Area Hospital, the Oncology team at Belfast City Hospital, and the staff at the local pharmacies. We appreciate your dedication, compassion, support, and kindness during our father’s illness.

Our grateful thanks to all relatives, friends, neighbours and members of the wider community who helped during Gerry’s illness.

A special word of thanks to Michael and Nicholas Gormley of J A Gormley Funeral Directors, Maghera for all the advice and the professional, compassionate and dignified manner in which they carried out all the funeral arrangements.

Since it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we hope that this acknowledgement will be accepted as a heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions at Gerry’s Months Mind Mass, which will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, Maghera at 7.30pm on Friday 1st October. As attendance will be restricted in line with Covid-19 guidelines, the mass will also be streamed live on the Church webcam:
