I was deeply saddened to learn of Ray's passing. The McAreavey family hold a special place in my heart and the McCrory family circle's. Ray's beautiful voice has kept me company all these years away from home, and tonight I'll be in Carrickfergus, at least as long as the song lasts. Thank you, Ray, for beautiful memories and to you, Colette and family, for being such good friends to the McCrory clan. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Thoughts and prayers are with Colette and all the family. Ray was one of life's great men and a great friend to my Dad, Gerry, and Mum, Brenda. Ray was a uniquely gifted musician with a wonderful voice that married perfectly with Irish folk in particular. I was fortunate to hear Ray play on many occasions at our home for house parties. In particular Ray and Gookie bringing new life to old classics. Rest well Ray. Thank you for wonderful gifts
