HUGHES (nee McCartan) Maureen died peacefully, on 23rd February 2024, at the Mercy Home, Newry. Formerly of Patrick Street, Newry, and of Chestnut Lodge, Laragh, Co. Monaghan.

Pre-deceased by her parents, Robert and Agnes McCartan (nee McGrath), Rostrevor, her husband Frank Hughes, and her siblings Helen Kearney, Bernadette Murray and Frank McCartan. Greatly missed by her children: Peter (Newry), Aidan (Ravensdale), Dermot (Warrenpoint), Caroline (Newry) and Allison Kirwan (Durrow), her grandchildren: Alex and Jools Hughes, Aishling and Rory Kirwan, her daughter-in-law Jane and son in law Patrick, and all her extended family.

Reposing at McAnulty’s Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Warrenpoint, Co. Down.

Wake to be held at the funeral home on Sunday, 25th February 2024, from 6pm to 9pm. Removal on Monday 26th February 2024, at 11:30am arriving at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Rostrevor for 12pm Requiem Mass (churchservices.tv) followed by interment in Kilbroney Cemetery.
