We, Alex and the family of Christine Dawson, would like to express our wholehearted gratitude for the unwavering support and kindness we received during Christine’s illness and following her passing on 7 December 2024.
Sincere thanks for the continued presence and generosity from ours and Christine’s family, friends, and neighbours and all of those who travelled far and near to attend Christine’s wake and funeral; who brought and served food and refreshments during the wake; offered condolences; made donations in lieu of flowers; sent Mass cards, and prayed with us. A heartfelt thank you to those of you who shared your stories and memories, your tears, laughter and your endless, kind words about Christine, all of which provided and, continues to provide, a profound source of comfort.
Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude, appreciation, and respect for the dedicated staff at Foyle Hospice who cared for Christine with the utmost tenderness, compassion, and dignity and for their empathy and unwavering support of Alex throughout Christine’s illness and particularly during her time at Foyle Hospice in October and latterly in December.
Our wholehearted thanks and admiration to Christine’s dear carers for always looking after her with the best of craic, compassion and dignity.
Our heartfelt thanks to Dr Devlin at Quayside Medical Centre, Shantallow District Nurses and Marie Curie for their attentiveness and dedication caring for Christine as nothing was ever too much.
Special thanks also to Leslie and colleagues at Macmillan Cancer Centre, Altnagelvin for the support, therapies and activities during Christine’s illness Sincere thanks to Fr Seán O’Donnell for the beautiful service and send off alongside Fr Peter McLaughlin and also to them, Fr Colum Clerkin, Fr Roni Zacharias, and Fr Joseph Quinn for their prayers and blessings bringing Christine and us sustained strength and peace.
Thank you to Rose at Garden Vogue Flowers for the beautiful arrangements; thank you to Catherine Ellis for the beautiful singing, Doherty’s Bakery, William Street; DaVincis, Shantallow and Leafair Community Centres; and the gravediggers for preparing Christine’s final resting place.
Finally, a special thank you to all at WJ O’Brien & Son Funeral Directors, Eglinton, particularly Kieran and Noeleen, for their guidance and the caring, attentive and dignified manner in which they dealt with the funeral arrangements.

Christine’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St Patrick’s Church, Pennyburn on Wednesday 8th January 2025 at 10 am. Everyone welcome.

DAWSON Christine, 7th December 2024 peacefully at the Foyle Hospice, loving mother of Alex and her partner Brogan, beloved daughter of May and the late Amsley and very dear sister of Noeleen, Julie, Lydia, Carol, Sue, Gillian, Marion, Godfrey and Michael.

Her remains will be reposing in the family home, 76 Grainan Drive, Belmont, on Sunday and Monday from 11 am to 9.30 pm. Funeral from there on Tuesday at 9.30 am for 10 o’clock Requiem Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Pennyburn. Interment afterwards in the City cemetery.
