Gerard (Gerry) DONNELLY

Date of Death: Tuesday 17th October 2023 Town: Trillick
Date of Death: Tuesday 17th October 2023

Gerard’s wife Regina, sons Rory, Barry, Fergal and his extended family wish to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for and supported us, through our recent sad bereavement. Gerard was a widely respected and dearly loved Husband, Father, Father in law, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend.

Thank you to everyone who visited the wake house, to those who brought food, and to our kind family and neighbours who made tea and helped in so many ways at the wake. Our thanks to those who sent Mass or Sympathy cards, messages, letters, flowers, or donations in lieu, lined the funeral route and who joined us at the Requiem Mass. We are blessed to have had the love and support of our family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues, throughout this difficult time, this has helped us in so many ways to grieve as a family.

A special word of thanks to Canon John McKenna PE, Father Padraig MacKenna PP, Father Artie McCann and Father Frank McManus PP for their spiritual support and the comforting Requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to the Sacristan and everyone who took part in the Liturgy, especially our singer, Molly McKeever, and her accompanist who provided the beautiful uplifting music.

Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for their support and the dignified and professional manner, in which the funeral arrangements were carried out, and to the gravedigger for preparing Gerard’s final resting place. Our thanks also to Sheenagh of Bumblebee Garden for the beautiful floral tributes and to the Trillick Hall ladies for the very welcome refreshments after the burial. We are also very grateful to BJT and Son for providing the outside lights and to McElhill Canopies for providing the marquee.

Our sincere thanks to St Macartan’s GAA for all their help during the wake, for the use of their car park, providing the shuttle bus, directing traffic, providing a guard of honour and for their many tributes. Gerard would have loved this, and it meant a lot to us as a family.

And finally, we send our sincere thanks to all the medical staff and carers with whom Gerard came into contact, both at home and in Hospital, especially the Doctors and staff of Irvinestown Health Centre, District Nurses, Marie Curie Night Nurses, N.I. Hospice nurses, the staff of the Palliative Care Ward Omagh Hospital and Mairead Warnock Pharmacist of Gordons Chemist, Irvinestown. We are very grateful for all your help and assistance with his care.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude.

Gerard is loved and missed every day, may his gentle, generous soul be granted peace and eternal rest. His Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St Macartan’s Church, Trillick on Sunday 26th November at 11am. Our Lady pray for him.
