FRIEL (née Mackey) Mai, 9 Belmont Drive, Derry – It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Mai Friel (née Mackey) (Rathdrum, Wicklow), May 24 2026, peacefully at her home, beloved wife of Tom, dear sister of Noreen and the late Nancy, Gerry and Noel and a much loved aunt and great-aunt. Deeply loved and will be sadly missed by all her family including her nieces and nephews in Derry and Wicklow.

Mai will be reposing in her home, 9 Belmont Drive. She will be removed from there on Wednesday at 5.30pm to repose overnight in St Patrick’s Church, Pennyburn. Requiem Mass will be celebrated there on Thursday at 10 o’clock. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. The Mass can be viewed live on the church’s website. Family flowers only please.
