Rory GARVEY

Sorcha, our sons Piaras, Ruaidhri Og, Donnacha, and Eoghan, along with Rory’s parents Joe and Eileen, his sisters Tara and Cliodhna, his nieces and nephews and our extended family, wish to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of support on the untimely death of our cherished husband, father, son, brother and uncle Rory Garvey.
The support given to our family during our most devastating loss of Rory, who passed away on Friday, 14th March 2025, is so deeply appreciated.
To his many friends and all who visited the family home. Your united and unwavering support has given us strength in our darkest of days. The compassion from our community has helped us to cope with the magnitude of our loss and the enormity of our pain.
To those who brought mass cards and those who donated in memory of Rory to the Intensive Care Unit at Craigavon Area Hospital, we extend our thanks.
For the people who provided first aid at the scene. The ambulance service personnel who attended Rory, the resuscitation team at Craigavon Area Hospital, and the team members of the Intensive Care Unit who treated Rory with the highest level of care, respect, dignity and compassion; for that we will remain eternally grateful.
To the committee and members of St Mary’s Football Academy Youth Team who stood guard of honour at both Rory’s home and at St John the Baptist, and to St Malachy’s Hurling and Camogie Club, and the children and teachers of Bunscoil Eoin Baiste for providing Rory and his family with a guard of honour at the church. Your presence brought us immense comfort during this incredibly difficult time, and this tribute was both fitting and beautiful.
Our thoughts too are with Gerard Kerr. Rory ‘s lifelong friend, who was unwavering in friendship and a constant support to him in both life and in his untimely death. We, as a family, thank you.
To Fr. Clarke, who celebrated Rory’s funeral Mass and who continues to support the family. To Aine and Sarah, whose music was beautiful and dignified and enhanced his funeral mass.
To Dermot, Hugh, Mairead and Henry from Quinns Funeral Directors Portadown for their professionalism in conducting Rory’s funeral arrangements and guidance for our family through the hardest of days.
It is impossible to thank everyone individually, but as a family, we hope this acknowledgement will be taken by every one of you. Your support has moved us, and we are appreciative of the love, prayers and kindness shown.
Rory’s month’s mind Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 14th April 2025, in St. Patrick’s,Town Chapel, Portadown, at 7.00pm.
Thank you
