GILLESPIE (nee Cassidy) Evelyn, 4th January 2026 peacefully at home after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family, devoted and much loved wife of William, loving mother to Allan, Stephen, Tracey and Adrian, and the late baby Mary, mother-in-law of Sharon, Marie, Denis and Bridgeen, devoted grandmother of Cathal, Sean, Aiden, Niall, Jack, Megan, Cara, Emmet, Ciaran, Oisín and Eoin and the late baby Gemma, and treasured great-grandmother of Jacob, daughter of the late Tom and Nellis and dearly loved sister of Isobel, Bernadette, her twin Margaret and the late Ida, Annie, Bridie, Seamus and Daniel.

Her remains will be reposing in her home, 15 College Glen, on Monday from 4 – 9 pm and on Tuesday from 12 – 9 pm. Funeral from there on Wednesday at 10.30 am for 11 o’clock Requiem Mass in St Joseph’s Church, Galliagh. Interment afterwards in the City cemetery.
