JAHINA (nee Morgan) Mary Ann 18th April 1937- 29th May 2022.

Achieved final peace at home surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved wife of Ronnie, mother of Adrian, Nigel and Dina. Grandmother to Wyn, Alessandra, Rhys, Menna, Evelyn and baby Freya.

I hope many will remember Mary (mum) with fondness, daughter of Chrissy Morgan, who grew up on the streets of Pomeroy with her late sister Carmel (McNally). Mum dedicated her life to her family and though she lived and worked in England for most of her years, she always spoke with great love and affection of her home in Pomeroy and the surrounding area. It is with great sadness that her illness, took her so quickly, preventing her returning to Pomeroy one last time this summer. Mary’s Funeral Mass will be held at The Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in West Bridgford, Nottingham on June 30th at 11.00am.

Mum was born Mary Ann Morgan in Pomeroy a small village in Co.Tyrone Northern Ireland, on 18th April 1937,

Mum trained to be a nurse and it was on a maternity ward at Booth Hall Hospital in 1957 that Dad met Mum for the 1st time.

A first meeting that would spark a 65year love affair that may have drawn to its earthly end but is one that will endure until they meet again and are together forever….

Mum was a dedicated nurse, whose career took her as far afield as New York, Belfast, and Manchester.

1966, great year The Beatles were at the height of their fame, England won the World Cup and Dad finally married mum, after 9yrs of ‘courting’

In 1967 when my brother was born mum gave up one career she loved (nursing) to focus on the one that made her the best in the world.. being mum.

In Jan 1970 I came along and by Jan 1973 the family was complete with the arrival of a little girl..

Living 1st in Birkenhead (1967-68) , moving to Blacon Point Road in Chester ahead of my arrival then on to Millers Close in Waverton, home life was awesome, Dad was busy always out but Mum was home every time we got back from school, mum was there.

In later years mum went back to nursing and eventually she and Dad set up a Residential home in Middlewich (1984). This was a labour of love, mum was Matron and owner and had standards that truly made The Manor a home form home for all its residents

When mum and dad finally ‘retired’ selling The Manor, I was eventually able to persuade them to leave Middlewich, a place that had been home for over 25years and move to be closer to me in Nottingham.

Over the last 10 years I have been lucky enough to have them on my doorstep, looking in on them when they need and having them look after me on more than one occasion.

Mum settled and adapted to West Bridgford life, becoming socially active, participating in Zumba classes or pottering around the shops on Central Avenue and the City Centre.

She was part of the congregation of The Catholic Church of The Holy Spirit in West Bridgford

Other than looking after Dad and seeing her 3 children grow up and succeed the thing that brought mum the greatest pleasure was becoming a Grandmother.

Wyn, Rhys Menna and Alessandra have all got memories that they can cherish of time spent with Grandma. The latest additions to Mum’s list of Grandchildren Evelyn (2) and Freya (6mths) will only have the stories and pictures as the memories are not there. But we will make sure that they remember the time spent, however short was full of love

Outside of her family, Mum had many friends scattered far and wide. She made an instant connection with people and formed a bond that would last, she was affectionate, compassionate and generous. Mum was much loved and cherished by everyone she met.
