HAYDEN John – RIP 26th  December 2020

The family of the late John Hayden, His wife Margaret, Sons (Martin, Cathal, Gerry, Stephen), Daughters (Patricia, Nuala, Siobhan Joanne) and his Sister Teresa; would like to express our sincere thanks to all who helped us and sympathised with us in our recent sad bereavement.

Thank you to all those who called, sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, letters, offered prayers, sent messages, texts and emails. These were a great source of comfort to us.

Thank you to those who watched the Requiem Mass on-line, and to those stood respectfully along the route as the cortege passed, we really appreciated this gesture.

To all our neighbours and friends who have provided great help and support during Johns illness. All your kind thoughts, actions and words of comfort are gratefully received.

Special thanks to all who cared for John; Craigavon Hospital, Campbells Surgery. We particularly thank those who attended John at his home. A special word of thanks to Marie Curie and Hospice at Home carers and staff who made John so comfortable and supported the family throughout his final weeks.

Thanks to Father Boyle, Cookstown for the Requiem Mass, and to Father Moore, Pomeroy, and Deacon Eamonn Quinn, Galbally who attended John with visits and communion and offered many prayers. Thank you to the Sacristan and those who attended to the grave.

To McAleer Bros Undertakers for arranging the funeral with such care and attention to detail especially in such difficult times, your caring manner and professionalism was greatly appreciated.

To the Musicians and Singers who played and sang at the funeral, The many musicians who have performed musical tributes to John on-line, and to the many, many musicians who knew John, and gave him great joy over the years with their talents and performance.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this as a token of our appreciation. The Holy sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for all your special intentions.

Johns Month Mind mass will be celebrated in the church of the Holy Trinity Cookstown on Tuesday 26th January at 10 am. Due to current restrictions, this mass will be available to stream via Holy Trinity streaming service, link available on this page

Mary Crispie

Trad music has lost one of its most ardent supporters. John is, and was one of lives gentlemen and manys a corner I have turned at some wee Fleadh and there he was. To have such a passion for music is a blessing in life and his love for our music has created beautiful music through his children. Ag smaoineamh oraibh uilig inniu. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis

lisa Fitzsimons

Condolences to Cathal and all who loved and will miss John. I would always look forward to meeting him and Terry O’Connor at music events up and down the country, often in the most unlikely places. R.I.P John, another of music’s thorough gentlemen.

John Daly

Deepest sympathies to the Hayden family on the loss of John. A true gentleman in the traditional music community and avid follower of all things music. He will be sorely missed. Thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal. George McAdam, Ballybay, Co.Monaghan.
