Acknowledgement from the family of the late Gertrude (Gertie) Lynch – R.I.P.
We, the family of the late Gertie, would like to thank all those who sympathised with us on the recent loss of our beloved mummy and granny. Thank you to all those who called to Gertie’s home, sent cards, left messages on social media or helped in any way over the course of the wake and funeral.
We would like to express our appreciation to all the staff at Daisy Hill Hospital; the staff at The Medical Hall, The Quays; Doctors Magennis, Barrett, Grant and Cull and all the staff at Cornmarket Surgery for their care and attention to Gertie.
We wish to thank Fr. Carlos for conducting a beautiful funeral mass and to Janice Gribben for the lovely music at the mass.
Thank you to Mc Gennity Funeral Directors for their professional services.
We end with a final, heartfelt thank you to Damien and Caroline who brought such joy to Gertie’s life.
Gertie’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 22nd June 2025 at 10.30am in St. Mary’s chapel, Newry.
May she rest in eternal peace.

LYNCH (née O’Hagan), Gertrude (Gertie) – R.I.P. Late of Fifth Avenue, Derrybeg, Newry. 22nd May 2025, peacefully at Daisy Hill Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved mother of Bernard and Mary and her nephew Damien, devoted granny to Aisling, Seón and Darren and great-granny to Oisín and Lúnasa.

Gertie’s remains will repose at her daughter Mary Bannon’s home, 93 Fathom Line, Omeath Road, Newry. Respectfully, the house is private tonight. The family would like to warmly welcome all friends to call tomorrow Saturday (24th May) and Sunday (25th May) between 2-9pm each day.

Gertie’s remains will be removed from Mary’s home on Monday morning (26th May) at 10.15am, arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am in St. Mary’s church, Chapel Street, Newry. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. House will be private for family on the morning of the funeral please.

Gertie will be dearly missed by her loving son, daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, son-in-law Chris, daughter-in-law Lily, Damien’s wife Caroline and family and our extended family circle.

Our Lady Queen of the Most Holy Rosary pray for her. May she rest in peace.
