On behalf of my mother, Nicky Christie, and myself, I would like to send our deepest condolences to David, Bruce, Alison and Julie and their families. Campbell was kind, thoughtful and had a very dry sense of humour. With regard to the latter, a story springs to mind concerning Mrs Bridget O’Neil and my mother’s new car from MacFarlane Motors. She was dropping me off at The Irish Society one morning in the early 70s and out of the corner of her eye, she saw a shadow. It turned out to be another car rolling down the hill and, unfortunately, my mother’s new car took the full impact by acting as a bumper. This scruffy looking woman sauntered across the road, whilst my mum, a journalist from the Coleraine Chronicle as well as other parents and children were cowering behind the school wall.
