Carolyn McATEER
The mother and family of the late Carolyn McAteer (RIP) wish to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all who offered support and comfort following the sudden death of our cherished daughter, sister, cousin and auntie.
We were greatly comforted by all who contacted us, sent condolences & mass cards and by the kindness and compassion expressed during the bereavement.
We are eternally grateful to Fr. Brian McCann and Fr. John Murray for the spiritual guidance, love and compassion shown to Carolyn throughout her life as well as the support offered to our family at the time of her death. In particular, we thank Fr. Brian for celebrating such a deeply meaningful Funeral Mass; Ana Rosbotham for the beautiful music accompaniment; and to the Bethany Group for their support during the time of the Wake.
A special thanks to all who shared in Carolyn’s Funeral Mass and to O’Neill’s Funeral Directors for their kindness and professionalism.
A heartfelt thanks to all who cared and supported Carolyn over the years, in particular, the dedicated staff at Woodbrooke Medical Centre.
We extend sincere appreciation to our entire family circle, friends, colleagues, and neighbours who visited during the wake, lined the route of her funeral cortège, attended the funeral, and offered their condolences. Your presence and kindness brought us immense comfort during this difficult time.
A special note of thanks to the Irish Republican Felons Association for their kindness & support, and hospitality & service, in such difficult circumstances.
We also extend our deep appreciation to Stephen Carson, Jake McHugh, the Roundabout Food Bar, Kolormaster and Pizza Guys for their thoughtful and generous support. We were truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of kindness from the wider community, and we are eternally grateful.
Carolyn’s Month’s Mind Mass, which will also mark the 25th Anniversary of our beloved father, Pat McAteer (RIP), will be celebrated on Saturday, 7th December 2024, at 6 PM in St. Luke’s Church, Twinbrook.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as sincere thanks and appreciation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions.
A final sentiment, taken from Carolyn’s Eulogy, written by her Goddaughter, Emer Bradley – Carolyn’s words to you from heaven:
“I feel a bit clearer now. Everything’s been out of order. Time, I mean. I thought for so long that time was like a line, that… our moments were laid out like dominoes and that they… fell, one into another, and on it went, just days tipping, one into the next, into the next, in a long line between the beginning… and the end. But I was wrong. It’s not like that at all. Our moments fall around us like rain, or the snow… or confetti.
And I learned a secret. There’s no without. I am not gone. I’m scattered into so many pieces, sprinkled on your life like… new snow, and there’s so much I want to say to you all. And nothing you did would have changed anything. I need you to know that. Forgiveness is warm. Like a tear on a cheek. Think of that and of me when you stand in the rain.
I loved you completely. And you loved me same. That’s all. The rest is confetti.”
Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for her.
In God’s loving arms you rest, forever in our hearts you will remain.
