Frances MEIGH

MEIGH Frances R.I.P. Peacefully at her home, 10 Church Road, Forkhill, 4th September 2026, surrounded by much-loved friends. Aged 96 years.
Frances lived a remarkable and full life. Having lived through the war years with her parents and her beloved brother, John, she went on to study at the Royal College of Art where she met her future husband, Philip Meigh, who became a cartoonist.
Frances and Philip later moved to the Cotswolds, where they raised their three children, Beatrice, Melanie and James. Frances was also a much-loved grandmother to Tahlia Frances and Charles Meigh.
Throughout her life, Frances travelled widely and developed a particular love for India, where she worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta. In later life, she moved from England to Ireland and settled in Forkhill, where she continued to pursue her deep interest in religion.
Frances had a lifelong love of the arts, music, gardens, people and politics and was never one to shy away from controversy or lively discussion. She became a writer and published several books, continued to paint, and studied religious icons, which she felt helped deepen her understanding of religion and faith.
Fiercely independent and endlessly interested in the world around her, Frances continued to live life on her own terms throughout her 96 years. She remained living in her own home in Forkhill until her death.
Frances will be very much missed by her children, grandchildren, friends and all those whose lives she touched during her long and remarkable life.
