Niall BANNON

Date of Death: Tuesday 3rd June 2025 Town: Killeeshil
Date of Death: Tuesday 3rd June 2025

Marie, Aileen, Ciaran, and Sarah, the family of the late Niall Bannon, wish to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported and comforted us during our recent loss. Your kindness, presence, and love have meant more than words can say.

To everyone who visited our home, attended the wake and funeral, sent mass cards, flowers, messages of sympathy, or helped in any way – we are deeply grateful.

We extend our sincere thanks to the dedicated medical teams who cared for Niall: the staff of NIAS, 3 South Craigavon, ICU Craigavon Area Hospital, SWAH, Campbell Surgery Dungannon, O’Neill’s Pharmacy Ballygawley, the Acute Care Team, and especially the Enhanced Care Team — our heroes Dermot, Matthew, and Shauna. Always present, always smiling, and always having Niall laughing, your compassion, listening, and advocacy allowed him to be at home whenever possible.

To all the staff, friends, and carers at Oakridge SEC, the bus drivers, and his former teachers at Sperrinview and St Mary’s Cabragh, thank you for the care, encouragement, and friendship you gave Niall throughout the years.

To those who helped with the arrangements, thank you to the gentlemen who looked after parking and buses, the McElvogues for the marquee, and the gravedigger who prepared Niall’s final resting place with such care and respect.

We are deeply grateful to St Mary’s Killeeshil for the beautiful guard of honour, and to Kieran Traynor for his help with the hall.

Thank you to Geraldine O’Neill and her team at Nugent Engineering for providing food following the funeral with warmth and generosity.

To all of Niall’s carers over the years – you were more than carers, you became family, and we will be forever thankful for your love and devotion. A special thank you to Deirdre Tierney for 34 years of unmatched care and devotion to Niall, for being a true friend and always there whenever needed.

To our dear neighbours and friends — thank you for carrying us through our darkest hours. For the stories, the photos, the endless trays of food, and cups of tea — we are forever grateful. Your love and memories of Niall lifted our hearts. To the Mallon and McDonald Families in Cranlome, Niall’s first friends and with us through all these years, we know how much Niall looked up to all of you and you’ll always hold a special place in our hearts and home.

We also wish to thank our aunts — Trish, Meg, Noreen, Marion, Pauline, Bernie, and Sandra; our uncles — Brendan, Yorkie, Danny, Tom, Snook, Gary B, Gerard, Gary S, and Seamus; and all of our cousins. Special thanks are extended to Eileen, Julie, Chloe, Kevin, Brian, Kate, Peg, Bernie, Aggie, Mary, Joe, Silina, Ursula, Leo, Maighread, Gerry, Danielle, and Ashlean.

To Kevin, Brendy, and Nadine, thank you for loving Niall as much as we did and for always embracing the true meaning of family.

To Niall’s nieces and nephews, who acted with such grace and will forever keep his memory alive — he loved you all greatly, and we are eternally grateful for all the lovely memories we made together.

To our family in Co. Down, Dundalk, and the USA, thank you for always having our backs. For always believing, praying, and for always turning up — we are truly blessed to call you family. Niall loved each of you immensely.

To our Tenerife family, what can we say other than thank you for embracing and loving our boy. For helping during all the trips and always looking out for us. He loved his time there, and the stories and craic will carry through the generations. You are all true friends, and your kindness is etched in our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who donated in lieu of flowers to Macmillan. The Macmillan team will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Bannon family for the support with Daddy, and Niall would be happy knowing we are helping other families in their time of need.

A special word of heartfelt appreciation to Kate McAleer, funeral director, for bringing Niall home and looking after him and all the arrangements with such tenderness and care — there truly is no one like you.

Sincere thanks to Fr Hannigan for his spiritual guidance and for celebrating Niall’s beautiful Requiem Mass. Thank you also to the readers and Eucharistic ministers, who carried out their roles with grace and reverence.

And to Laura McGurk, Joanne Reihill, and Paddy McKenna — thank you for the beautiful and moving music, which enriched the service and honoured Niall’s life.

To all the families we met during our ICU stay, we send our deepest condolences, love, and strength for the days ahead. Though we are sad that our paths crossed under such difficult circumstances, we are eternally grateful for the corridor chats, hugs, prayers, and the sharing of stories that brought comfort in those moments.

Special thanks to Brian and Julie for kindly bringing relics to the hospital — your kindness meant so much to us all.

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this notice as a token of our deep and lasting appreciation.

Niall’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 5th July at 10.00am in St Patrick’s Church, Aughnagar.
Lovingly remembered, deeply missed, and forever in our hearts.

Bannon Family, Cranlome

Niall, with twinkling eyes and quiet grace,
Mischief dancing on your face.
In every trial, come what may,
Your love and strength lit up the way.

Our beautiful boy, so full of light,
A steady flame through darkest night.
A family strong, through joy and pain,
Together always — sunshine or rain.

You never asked, but always gave,
A heart so true, a soul so brave.
An angel on earth, now calm and free,
In daddy’s arms for eternity.

Loved beyond what words can say,
Forever in our hearts you’ll stay.
