Kate, Karla and the family circle of the late Gerard RIP wish to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who sympathised and supported us in our recent sad bereavement.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who called at our home, sent mass and sympathy cards, posted online tributes, telephoned, brought food and gifts to the house and attended the funeral.
A special thanks to our kind relatives and friends who helped at the wake.
Our heartfelt thanks to the help of the emergency services.
We thank most sincerely Father Toland for his prayers, words of comfort and for conducting the Funeral Mass.
A special thank you to Bernie Campbell for her beautiful singing in the Chapel and to Ciaran and the staff of Seamus Fitzsimons Funeral Directors for their care, support and guidance in carrying out the funeral arrangements.
Also thank you to the RGU for the use of the hall and to Liam and Tonia Byrne for the refreshments.
Gerard’s months mind mass will take place on Wednesday 30th July at 7.30pm in St Patrick’s Church, Downpatrick.

OAKES Gerard (Downpatrick) RIP. Died 4th July 2025. Dearly beloved husband of Kate and loving father to Karla. Much loved brother of Janette, Anne, Maureen, Colette, Rosemary, Eamonn, and the late Michael and Pat. Dear brother-in-law to Margaret, Ellen, Geraldine, Tommy, Louise, Mary and the late Charlie. Dear uncle and friend to many.

Funeral from his late residence 3 Dunleath Avenue BT30 6UT on Tuesday 8th July at 12.30pm for 1.00pm Requiem Mass in St Patrick’s Church Downpatrick. Interment afterwards in Struell Cemetery. St Padre Pio pray for him.

Everyone welcome to pay their respects at his late residence between 2pm and 8pm Sunday 6th and Monday 7th July.
