The family of the late Darren (Joe) Rooney would like to express our gratitude to those who have supported us throughout these difficult times. We thank everyone who attended the wake, funeral and burial, and also those who sent condolences from far and wide, Your support has meant so much to us.
We would like to thank the wonderful Emergency Services, the PSNI and for those people who stopped and assisted in any way they could, you are some of life’s very special people and we will never have enough words of thanks for your compassion.
A special thanks to our family and friends, the people of Mayobridge, Rostrevor and further afield. To St Patrick’s Primary School staff and pupils, to Mayobridge GAC especially the Under 11 teammates of James and their parents. Your acts of kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. You have given our family such comfort even in the most difficult circumstances, and from the bottom of our hearts thank you.
To Peter O Hare and family you will always hold a very special place within our wee family.
Many thanks to Diamonds Restaurant for the food and refreshments they supplied. To the friends, neighbours and family members who brought food and helped out over Joe’s wake, you went above and beyond and we are so very grateful.
Thank you to Fr Des Mooney and Fr Hugh Connelly for the beautiful funeral Mass, and to Gavin Gribben for the spectacular singing.
We are extremely grateful to Patsy Curran Funeral Directors for their kindness and professionalism and for seeing the funeral through Jake’s eyes! words can’t ever express our thanks for this.
It would be impossible to thank everyone individually but please take comfort in knowing we will be forever grateful.
Finally, we are overwhelmed with the generosity of those who have donated to our chosen charities and cannot thank you enough for your donations, we know that these charities will guide us through our days ahead.
Darren (Joe’s) Month’s Mind Mass will be held in St Patrick’s Church Mayobridge on Saturday 3rd February at 6pm.

Partner of Kathrina and loving son of Teresa and the late Danny Rooney R.I.P. Beloved father of James, Jake, Mollie and step father of Aimee-Lee. Treasured brother of Gary and Conor, step son of Richard Russell and son-in-law of Marian, grandson of Maureen and the late Jimmy Morgan R.I.P., and the late Cissie and John Rooney R.I.P.

Darren’s remains will be reposing at his home, 12 Hillside, Mayobridge, from today Monday January 1st until removal on tomorrow Tuesday January 2nd, at 11.00am for 12noon Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Rostrevor. Travelling via the Ballyvally Road to Rostrevor. Requiem Mass can be viewed live on ww.churchservices.tv/rostrevor House Private on the morning of the funeral. Interment afterwards in Kilbroney Cemetery, Rostrevor.

Deeply regretted by his sorrowing partner, sons, daughters, mother, brothers, grandmother, step father, mother-in-law, the Rooney and Morgan families and the wider family circle. St Joseph pray for him.
