It is with the greatest of regret that we have to inform you of the death of Mairi Claire Routledge (Née Sayers), Newcastle, and formerly of Glenravel. Mairi Claire passed away peacefully at St. Oswald’s, Gosforth, Newcastle Upon Tyne, on the 24th February 2026, with her loving family by her side. May she rest in peace.

Loving daughter of Michael and the late Catherine, (Née Higgins), devoted wife of Joel and loving mother of her little boy Patrick, dear sister of Michael, Aidan and Gemma.

Mairi Claire’s Requiem Mass will take place in St. John the Evangelist Church, Carnlough on the 11th March at 11.00am, burial afterwards in Mary Queen of Peace cemetery, Glenravel.

Her parting leaves a huge hole in all of our lives. She will be very sadly missed by her husband Joel, her little boy Patrick, dad Michael, brothers Michael and Aidan, sister Gemma and her uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins the Sayers and Routledge families. May Mairi Claire rest in peace.

Mairi Claire loved nature and being outdoors, so we kindly request that instead of flowers being sent to the family, you sow some seeds outside and think of her.

The love, care and support they gave Mairi Claire in her final days is something we as a family will never forget, and they will continue to support us as a family as we try to move forward and learn to live our lives without our beautiful Mairi Claire.
