The family of the late Hugh Henry Smylie wish to thank all those who sympathised with them in their recent sad bereavement.
A special word of thanks to Rev. Dario Leal and Pastor Tim McIlrath for their prayers, words of comfort and for conducting the funeral service.
Thanks to the Doctors, Nurse and Medical staff in Ward MAU3, Lagan Valley Hospital and Ward 5F, Royal Victoria Hospital for their unfailing care and attention. Thank you also to the Lydian carers for their care and support to Hugh at home.
With sincere thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Bill Reid and their Staff from Douglas Funeral Directors for the professional and dignified manner in which they carried out the arrangements.
Finally, thanks to those friends and neighbours who sent cards, telephoned, brought gifts, attended the funeral service or helped in any other way.

SMYLIE, Hugh Henry 15th May 2025. Peacefully at hospital in his 86th year, late of Ballycreen, Ballynahinch. Beloved son of the late James and Eliza Smylie. Much loved brother of Rachel (Erwin).

Houses strictly private. Reception for family and friends at Douglas Funeral Home, 20 Dromore Road, Ballynahinch on Friday from 6pm – 8pm. Funeral Service in 1st Presbyterian Church, Ballynahinch on Saturday 17th May at 1.30pm afterwards to Edengrove Presbyterian Graveyard.

No flowers please. Donations if desired online via www.douglasfuneral;directors or cheques payable to Chest, Heart and Stroke N.I. c/o Douglas Funeral Directors, (address as above).

Will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing sister, nephews Uel and Gavin, their wives Donna and Lynda and their families, Dawn, Graeme and Faye, Melissa, Joe, Hannah and Zac.

Along the road of suffering he found a little lane, that took him up to heaven and ended all his pain.
