Date of Death: Wednesday 15th November 2023

The family of the late Canon Patrick, wish to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised, prayed for and supported us, through our recent sad bereavement. Canon Patrick was a widely respected former teacher, Parish Priest and dearly loved Brother, Uncle and Friend.

Thank you to everyone who visited the wake to pay their respects, in both Carrickmacross and Fintona. Our thanks to those who sent Mass or Sympathy cards, messages, letters, flowers and to those who attended when Canon Patrick was received into St. Lawrence’s Church or who joined us at the Requiem Mass.

Thanks to Father Kevin Connolly for receiving Canon Patrick’s remains into St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross and for the beautiful Psalm Service. A very special word of thanks to Most Reverend Bishop Lawrence Duffy, for his spiritual support and the comforting Requiem Mass. We convey our appreciation also to all the clergy who assisted with the Mass and especially Father Sean Mulligan for all his preparatory work. Thanks also to the Sacristan and everyone who took part in the Liturgy and to the St. Lawrence’s Primary School Choir and the Parish Community Choir who provided the beautiful uplifting music.

Thank you to McAtee Funeral Directors for their support and the dignified and professional manner, in which the funeral arrangements were carried out, and to the gravedigger Tommy for preparing Canon Patrick’s final resting place. Our thanks to Roisin of Nettles & Petals for the beautiful floral tributes and to the St. Patricks’ Hall ladies for the very welcome refreshments after the burial.

Our sincere thanks to Fintona Pearses’s GAA and to St Lawrence’s Primary School for providing their guards of honour.

And finally, we send our sincere thanks to the staff of St. Anne’s Nursing Home, Ballybay for the kindness shown to Canon Patrick during his time there, we are very grateful for all your help and assistance with Canon Patrick’s care.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’s deepest gratitude.

Canon Patrick’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated in St. Lawrence’s Church, Fintona on Saturday 16th December at 10.00 am, may his generous soul be granted peace and eternal rest. Our Lady pray for him.
